If you have any of these, call either office immediately. Same-day dispatch during business hours throughout Northern Virginia and Maryland.

Urgent

Active interior leak

Same-day dispatch

Water in the attic, ceiling stains spreading, water dripping into living space. Tarp first, diagnose second. Do not climb the roof yourself.

Storm

Post-storm shingle loss

Same-day dispatch

Missing shingles visible from the ground, exposed underlayment, ridge cap lifted. The next rain will find the gap. Tarp + HAAG documentation in one visit.

Impact

Tree or branch impact

Same-day dispatch

Tree limb on the roof, hail damage visible from the ground, debris field on the lawn. We document, tarp, and coordinate with your insurance carrier.

Open Roof

Failed prior repair

Same-day dispatch

A patch from another contractor failed and your roof is now exposed. We tarp, document the failure for the prior contractor or insurance, then permanent repair.

What emergency dispatch includes

Every same-day visit covers these 8 things.

Tarp + diagnosis is one visit, one price. Full HAAG documentation included regardless of whether you proceed with us on permanent repair.

Same-day dispatch (business hours)

Call before 3 PM and a crew is on your roof the same day. After-hours calls dispatch first thing the next morning.

Heavy-duty emergency tarp

Bright blue polyethylene tarp sized to the damaged area, secured with 2×4 edge strips and roofing nails for wind resistance up to 60 mph.

HAAG-Certified inspector on the ladder

Same visit as the tarp install. Kevin Butler or another HAAG-Certified DH inspector documents the damage to insurance-grade standards.

Drone + ground photo report

Emailed to you within 24 hours. The same documentation insurance adjusters use to scope the claim.

Written 25% rule diagnosis

Honest assessment: targeted repair, multi-point storm repair, or full replacement. Documented in writing with the rationale.

Insurance claim coordination

If the damage is insurance-eligible, we walk you through the claim filing process and offer to walk the inspection with your adjuster.

Permanent repair scheduling

Same-week scheduling for permanent repair. Tarp credit applied if you contract the permanent fix with DreamHome.

No contingency contract

You are never locked into using DreamHome for the permanent repair. The HAAG photo report is yours to keep regardless.

03 · Same-day

One day, not three weeks

20-square subdivision roofs install in one day. Larger homes in two. No multi-week jobsites. No weeks of tarped openings. No exposed decking to surprise weather.

FAQ

Emergency roof repair questions.

How quickly can you actually get here?

Call before 3 PM during business hours and a crew is on your roof the same day. After-hours calls dispatch first thing the next morning. Both offices (Springfield VA and Hanover MD) prioritize active-leak calls over scheduled work during severe weather events.

What do you charge for emergency tarping?

$350 to $650 for standard tarp installs (under 200 sq ft tarped area). $450 to $650 for larger areas or steep-pitch roofs. The price includes the HAAG-Certified damage documentation and a photo report emailed within 24 hours. $200 tarp credit applied if you contract the permanent repair with DreamHome.

Do you tarp on weekends?

Saturday yes, Sunday only for active interior leaks. Weekend tarp installs may incur a small after-hours surcharge depending on the storm volume. We do not tarp at night for safety reasons; tarps installed at night come loose more often than tarps installed in daylight.

Will my insurance cover the emergency tarp cost?

Usually yes, if the underlying damage is covered. Tarping is considered “mitigation” by most policies. Save the receipt and submit it with your claim. The HAAG photo report we email after the install supports the claim.

Should I tarp my own roof while I wait?

No. Wet roofs are how secondary injuries happen. Even a 4/12 pitch is dangerous wet. Tarps installed by homeowners typically come off in the next 30 mph wind gust because the install spec (2×4 edge strips, roofing nails through the strip into decking) is install-grade work, not DIY. Wait for us.

What if I can’t reach you and the leak is active?

Two interim things you can safely do from inside: (1) Move furniture and valuables away from the wet area. (2) Place buckets under active drips and a tarp on the floor to protect carpet. Document with date-stamped phone photos. Do not climb. Call us as soon as we open; we will dispatch as the first call of the day.

How long does the tarp stay up?

Properly installed emergency tarps last 3 to 6 months before degradation from UV and weather requires replacement. We schedule the permanent repair within the week to avoid relying on the tarp for long. If permanent repair is delayed by insurance, we can extend the tarp.

Can you do same-day permanent repair instead of tarp?

Sometimes, for small targeted repairs (single pipe boot, one shingle area, small flashing issue). Larger repairs need material delivery and a longer crew window, so tarping is the path. We will tell you on the call which path your situation needs.

The DreamHome operating system · rules since 1999

Four principles Lenny refuses to compromise.

Founded by Lenny Scarola in 1999. 2,400+ verified reviews across Google, Angi, HomeAdvisor, GuildQuality, BBB, and more. We approach roofing more like a forensic investigation than a sales appointment.

01

Diagnose before you sell

Inspector on the ladder, not a sales rep. Sometimes the real problem isn’t a roof at all.

02

Install to manufacturer spec

Less than 1% qualify for OC Platinum. Even the best shingles installed incorrectly can fail.

03

Honest pricing, no games

No inflate-and-discount. No “today only.” The quote is the price.

04

Trust compounds over time

Same leadership 25+ years. After the storms pass and the trucks disappear, what matters is who’s still standing.
