Our house was built in 1986 and we are the original owners. Now that the house is 20 + years old and in need of some minor repairs/cosmetic upgrades, for the past several years my husband and I have chosen an annual home project to either work on ourselves, or hire a contractor to work on for us.
For about five years now we've discussed replacing the originial Anderson builder grade windows that came with the house. This year, when someone from Dream Home Remodeling, Inc was int he neighborhood, we decided to take advatnage of your free in-home estimate and consider this homeimprovement project a little more seriously.
Through my husband's legal practice in Herndon, we are personally aware of many contractor horror stories. THerefore, we were both relieved and impressed with Dream Home's qualifications and credentials, as well as the window demonstration, product quality, and product warranty, from the very beginning.
On the day of installation, the installer and his assistants arrived on time and began working right away. The installer seemed knowledgeable, professional, was very personable and answered all our questions as he continued to work. All work was completed within the same day.
The quality of the triple pane Gorell windows that we chose has been disappointing. In particular, we had one upstairs bedroom window on the West end of the house that always for the hot, late afternoon sun. Before, we had to to be conscientious about always keeping a room darkening shade lowered and the curtains drawn to keep the heat out. The new Gorell window instantly provided relief from the setting sun. The very first day we found we could stroll by, or sit next to, this window without feeling any temperature change. Just this difference alone eliminated the need to install a shade over that window and we now enjoy the more comfortable room temperature along with the natural sunlight that comes in through the day.
We've had a couple of billing cycles pass now. We're on the budget billing, so we pay the same each month regardless of how much we use. However, in viewing the our usage history we have noticed that without altering the temperature setting on the house thermostat, there has been a consistent drop in usage of a little more than 200 kWh each month.
We are very excited about our attractive Gorell, easy-to-clean, triple-paned windows and look forward to working with Dream Home on the future home improvement projects in the years to come.
