Hail Restoration Storm Chasers in Tysons Corner, VA

( 3 Votes )

As a result of the May 14th hail storm that swept through Northern Virginia and Maryland, neighborhoods including those in the Tysons Corner Area, have been overrun by out of state storm chasers.  A word of caution to homeowners, if you will be contracting work with an out of state contractor, be extra diligent in checking backgrounds, licenses, and customer references.

To be on the safe side, always use a local contractor that has been in business for at least a few years, and can give you plenty of references.

Siding Hail Damage in Reston, VA

( 1 Vote )

We have several homes on the same street that were hit hard by the hail storm on May 14th in Reston, VA.  These homeowners were proactive and filed a claim themselves with the insurance companies before speaking with any contractors.

The adjustor came, inspected the damage, filed the work and sent a check.  The homeowners now must call a contractor to get an estimate and cross their fingers that the check from the insurance company will cover the scope of the work.

Worst case scenario, the insurance adjustor did not account for all the damage, and we, the contractor, will have to file a supplemental claim to have a second check sent from the insurance adjustor.

Hail Damage, How to Look for it

( 2 Votes )

hail damage pot marksIf you were one of the victims of the May 14th hail storm, the first step to checking for hail damage.  You can do this by climbing your roof yourself, or calling a local contractor to come do the inspection for you.

Hail damage on your siding should be visible from the ground.

Once you're on the roof, you'll want to look for small pot marks scattered across the roof, or possibly isolated to one location.  View the photo.  In order to justify filing a claim, it only takes several pot marks in 10x10 sq. ft area.

You will want to circle the individual hail damage marks and snap a photo.  You can then show this to the insurance adjustor to help expedite the process.
